Spotlight on Spøttrup
10 Wednesdays at 14-15
With the new initiative “Spot on Spøttrup”, a series of Wednesday tours, MUSEUM SALLING focuses on the many stories that the castle holds when we take a closer look.
A detail tells…..
Join us on an educational Wednesday tour and learn even more about Spøttrup Castle. We explore, ask questions and are curious about the castle and its history.
Each Wednesday tour has a special focus, so you can participate in all of them or select the tours you are most interested in.
The tours will cover the current excavation in the north rampart, the castle’s fine halls, details in the masonry and historical sources – all of which will help us learn more about the castle and its time.
Archaeologist and museum curator Turi Thomsen, who is in charge of the tours, says: “Of course, we always expect to learn more. We can do this, for example, by finding more precise dates, finding layers that tell us what happened and discovering the different functions the castle has had over time. Every time we gain new knowledge, it is part of a larger context and we get more nuances.” “Imagine if masonry could talk – what wouldn’t it be able to tell us?”, concludes Turi Thomsen.
The tours take place at 14-15 on 10 Wednesdays throughout the spring and summer:
