Archaeology

Together we can secure our past for the future
One of the museum’s most important tasks is to safeguard our common cultural heritage. This is done, among other things, through archaeological investigations, which Museum Salling Archaeology carries out in accordance with the Museum Act. The purpose of the Museum Act is to ensure that our ancient monuments remain preserved in the ground or are investigated. At the same time, the Museum Act prevents construction projects from being unnecessarily delayed by significant traces of cultural history unexpectedly emerging from the ground.

In Denmark, it is not legal to destroy ancient monuments. Therefore, it’s a good idea to contact the museum prior to a project.

If you have come across an ancient monument and are in doubt..
… contact us as soon as possible.
