Bispens Marked at Spøttrup Borg – A medieval adventure for the whole family

Take the kids by the hand and step into a colorful and enchanting world when Bispens Marked once again takes over Spøttrup Borg in week 30!

For five days, the castle and surrounding area will be transformed into a living medieval universe where adventurers young and old can explore, play and learn. There are no screens – but plenty of swords, fun and historical experiences that bring the imagination to life.

Do you have a little knight or squire at home? At Bispens Market, children can try real knight training and test their courage, strength and skill. Meet real knights in armor – on foot and on horseback – and feel the thrill of battle training and knight tournaments on the square!

Throughout the market, jugglers and musicians provide entertainment throughout the day and there are plenty of shows to keep the whole family laughing together. The stalls are full of medieval-inspired goods and you can try your hand at old crafts and activities.

When your stomach rumbles, the food stalls offer everything from grilled meat and bread to cold cider and beer from the tavern tent. There are cozy places to sit and enjoy the food – and time to rest your legs amidst the experiences.

Travel 500 years back in time
Inside Spøttrup Castle itself, you can explore the castle’s many rooms where noblemen, scribes and swordsmen show you what life was like in the late Middle Ages. There’s room for both curiosity and immersion – and to ask questions to those who know the history.

Tine Klitgaard Danielsen, Team Leader for Communication at Museum Salling, says: “This year, Museum Salling offers an even greater experience for the whole family, where history and learning go hand in hand. As something completely new, we invite the public inside for exciting and educational demonstrations in Borggården. Here, guests can learn about the knight’s equipment – from the inside to the outside, hear fascinating stories about the importance of hunting in the Middle Ages and much more. The audience can look forward to a spectacular sight when up to half a hundred knights, soldiers and archers take to the tournament grounds. Here they will fight a dramatic battle that gives a vivid insight into what a skirmish during, among other things, the Count’s feud could look like.” “We’re in for a week filled with action, immersion and communication,” concludes Tine Klitgaard Danielsen.

Bispens Marked is known for its cozy and welcoming atmosphere – here the whole family can take a break from the present and be part of a celebration filled with colors, stories and community. It will be an experience you’ll never forget!
